- EXT3 data recovery performed by Linux specialists
The EXT3 file-system is an upgraded version of the EXT2 file-system and is found in machines running the Linux operating system. Unlike its predecessor, this file-system uses journaling.
File systems that use journaling record the metadata detailing alterations to files and folders continuously. In the event that the system crashes or fails, the system uses this data to identify inconsistencies and restore the system to a prior and fully functional state. Metadata is therefore removed when the file it is associated with is deleted in order to ensure that it does not interfere with the restoration process.
Metadata often plays a vital role in the recovery of lost data, meaning that, when they conduct your free diagnostic, our technicians will:
- Recover the reference points related to metadata; or
- If this is not possible, access the data at a raw level; and
- Extract all available data so that it can be safely backed up.
In order to determine if data can be recovered from media that has been using an EXT3 file-system, an initial diagnostic must be undertaken. Book your free diagnostic today by emailing or calling us at 866-879-1281866-879-1281.
